How to create an animation in Figma
Figma is a powerful design tool that allows you to create static and interactive designs. While it doesn't have built-in animation features, you can still create basic animations using Figma's prototyping features. Here's how to create a simple animation in Figma:
- Create your design: Start by creating your design elements in Figma. You can create your design using shapes, text, and other elements.
- Duplicate the design: Duplicate the design you just created by selecting it and pressing "CMD/CTRL + D" or "right-click > Duplicate." This duplicated design will be the starting point of your animation.
- Edit the duplicated design: Edit the duplicated design to create the second state of your animation. You can change the position, size, or color of the elements to create a different look.
- Create a prototype: Select the starting point of your animation and click on the "Prototype" tab in the right-hand panel. Click on the "+" button to add an interaction.
- Add an interaction: Choose the "On Click" trigger and select the second state of your animation as the destination. You can also choose the "Smart Animate" transition to create a smooth animation between the two states.
- Preview the animation: Click on the "Present" button in the top-right corner to preview your animation. You can also share the link with others to get feedback.
- Refine and iterate: Refine your animation by adjusting the timing, easing, and other properties. You can also iterate on your design by adding more states and interactions.
By using Figma's prototyping features, you can create simple animations that bring your designs to life.
